Recent developments
In 2019, the Myanmar government enacted the Automotive Policy of Myanmar (2019), requiring that all imported diesel adhere to at least Euro 4-enabling quality standards.
In 2021, the Ministry of Energy (MOE) released the import standard of ultra-low sulfur diesel, the import standard regulated the maximum sulfur limit at 10 mg/kg and more stringent limits for cetane index and temperature for distillation 95% v/v recovered. As of August 2024, the country is regulating three grades of diesel with different sulfur limits.
