In January 2024, LanzaJet inaugurated the world's first facility to transform ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Georgia, potentially opening new markets for corn growers in the U.S.
The USD 200 million facility, which received funding from the U.S. government and has investors including Shell, Suncor Energy, British Airways, and All Nippon Airways, among others, is designed to produce 9 million gallons (approximately 34 million liters) of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and 1 million gallons (about 3.8 million liters) of renewable diesel annually.
