Comment on this paragraph The Council of the EU and the European Parliament reached a provisional agreement on a regulation for the type-approval of motor vehicles and engines, and of the systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles, with respect to their emissions and battery durability, known as Euro 7. This regulation covers passenger cars, vans, and heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) (buses and trucks) in one single legal act for the first time in the EU.
Comment on this paragraph The Euro 7 regulation establishes rules for exhaust gas emissions for road vehicles but also other emissions such as tyre abrasion and brake particle emissions, as well as limits for battery durability. The provisional agreement will retain the Euro 6 emissions limits for passenger cars and vans but reduce the limits for buses and trucks.
Comment on this paragraph The agreement limits the emission of solid particles with a diameter starting from 10 nm (PN10), instead of 23 nm as in Euro 6. Furthermore, it establishes stricter limits for new pollutants for HDVs such as N2O.
Comment on this paragraph The dates for the regulation to enter into force have also changed. Detailed information about Euro 7 can be found in the EU overview of gasoline vehicles and the EU overview of diesel vehicles.
