On February 5, 2024, South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy announced the establishment of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Comprehensive Demonstration Center at the Daesan Petrochemical Complex in Chungnam province.
The government also revealed plans to invest KRW 311 billion (USD 216 million) in this initiative. This includes KRW 11 billion for constructing the demonstration center, KRW 35 billion for equipment and installation, and approximately KRW 265 billion for research and development. The five-year project is set to run from 2027 to 2031.
