U.S.: Illinois increases biodiesel blend requirement for tax incentives

On April 1, 2025, the state of Illinois increased the minimum biodiesel content required to qualify for its 6.25% sales tax exemption, raising the blend level from 14% v/v (B14) to 17% v/v (B17). This adjustment is part of the phased implementation of the B20 Bill, a bipartisan law passed in 2022 to encourage the use of higher biodiesel blends through targeted tax incentives.
