The focus of the 5th Go Net Zero Energy Summit, on April 3-5, 2025, was on the Central and Eastern Europe region, addressing the current challenges in decarbonization and exploring the strategic pathways to achieving the EU's ambitious 2030 targets. Leaders from the industry, governments, and technology providers of the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania discussed adaptation to the EU regulations at the national level to effectively bridge the gap between technological innovation, infrastructure development, and maintaining competitiveness.
They investigated the potential of renewable and alternative fuel technology in the region. Investment strategies, funding mechanisms, and infrastructure development plans essential for supporting a sustainable energy future were discussed. The event finished with a site visit to MOL Group's Hungary Danube Refinery. MOL inaugurated a 10-megawatt capacity plant on their site to produce 1,600 tonnes of clean hydrogen per year and reduce the refinery's CO2 emissions by 25,000 tonnes annually. Daria looked closely at MOL's R&D lab, on-site solar, hydroprocessing units, and refining advancements.
The UNITI Mineral Oil Technology Congress occurred on April 8-9, 2025. It gathered specialists in the lube and fuel sector and experts in the mechanical engineering and automotive industry to meet and discuss current trends and future developments in the industry. The topics included the most recent industry trends of lubricants and fuels, from research to practical applications.
