On June 19, 2025, the Government of Pakistan announced the National Electric Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–2030, aimed at accelerating the growth of the electric vehicles (EV) industry. The policy sets a target for 30% of all new vehicles sold to be electric by 2030, increasing to 90% by 2040 and reaching 100% by 2060.
To support this transition, the government introduced a PKR 100 billion (USD 353 million) subsidy program over the next five years for electric two- and three-wheelers. For the upcoming financial year, an initial PKR 9 billion (USD 2.5 million) has been allocated to provide subsidized financing for 116,053 electric bikes and 3,171 electric rickshaws.
