Ireland: review of the renewable transport fuel policy

On June 25, 2025, the Department of Transport of the Republic of Ireland published the Renewable Fuels for Transport Policy Statement 2025 – 2027. The ministry developed this policy review through stakeholder consultation and expert analysis in cooperation with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and the National Oil Reserves Agency (NORA). The policy builds on the renewable transport fuel obligation (RTFO) and sets ambitious goals for renewable energy integration, sustainability and emissions reduction.
