Viet Nam: E10 pilot in three cities underway since August 1, 2025

SGS INSPIRE has recently learned that major oil marketing companies in Viet Nam, Petrolimex and PVOil, have begun introducing E10 (gasoline containing up to 10% v/v ethanol) in three cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, as of August 1, 2025. PVOil covers Hanoi and Hai Phong, and Petrolimex focuses on Ho Chi Minh City.

This was carried out in preparation for the nationwide switch to E10, planned for January 2026, about eight years later than the original target of December 2017. While the government E10 mandate covers both RON 92 and RON 95 grades, the E10 pilot only involves E10 RON 95.
