In June 2024, the SGS Worldwide Fuels Survey (WWFS) team collected 35 fuel samples from China, covering Beijing, Changchun, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Wuhan. The results are included in the SGS WWFS Summer report. After mid-2025, a number of Chinese local governments issued their 2024 fuel quality test reports.
This article presents a comparison between the SGS WWFS findings and government-reported data from four cities.
For gasoline, the discussion covers:
    •RON
    •Sulfur content
    •Vapor pressure
    •Metallic additives (manganese, iron and lead)
    •Oxygen content
    •Hydrocarbon content (aromatics, benzene and olefins)
    •Ethanol content in E10 (conventional gasoline containing with 8–12% v/v denatured fuel ethanol)
