On July 14, 2021, the European Commission published the "Fit for 55" delivering the EU's 2030 climate target on the way to climate neutrality. It is accompanied by 15 legislative proposals across a range policy areas and economic sectors: climate, energy and fuels, transport, buildings, land use and forestry. The proposals are following:
✓ of the Regulation on the inclusion of greenhouse gas emissions and removals from land use, land use change and forestry
✓Effort sharing
✓ of the Renewable Energy Directive to implement the ambition of the new 2030 climate target
✓ of the Energy Efficiency Directive to implement the ambition of the new 2030 climate target
✓ - sustainable aviation fuels
✓ - green European maritime space
✓ of the Directive on deployment of the alternative fuels infrastructure
✓Strategic rollout to support rapid deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure
✓ of the Regulation setting CO2 emission standards for cars and vans
✓Carbon border adjustment
✓Revision of the Energy Taxation
✓Revision of the EU Emission Trading
✓ of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)

The EC indicated that the chosen policy mix is a careful balance between pricing, targets, standards and support measures. This is the first time that the EC proposes legislation that drives energy efficiency, CO2 reduction and promotes renewable energy use through a combination of measures: mandatory regulatory targets and market based mechanisms.
