Recent developments
In January 2024, the Thai government enforced nationwide Euro 5-equivalent gasoline standards for gasoline and gasohol (conventional gasoline blends with denatured ethanol). The maximum sulfur limit for all types of gasoline was reduced to 10 mg/kg.
Simultaneously, the government announced its intention to phase out the subsidy program (Oil Fuel Fund) for gasohol by the end of 2024. Currently, the government provides subsidies for E10 RON 91, E10 RON 95, E20 RON 95, and E85 RON 95, as detailed in the section.
Furthermore, plans were unveiled for the adoption of Euro 6-equivalent standards for gasoline/gasohol by January 1, 2025.
