Recent developments
On September 14, 2023, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) approved Resolution , which granted to the state-owned company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) an with the specification for aromatic content in gasoline, provided for in Mexican Official Standard NOM-016-CRE-2016. This extension refers to gasoline sold in the Guadalajara Metropolitan area, which may contain up to 32% v/v of aromatics until December 31, 2026. As of January 1, 2027, the maximum content of aromatics should drop to 25% v/v, as established in the , released in August 2016 and updated in June 2017.
