Specifications for conventional and alternative fuels, including gasoline, are regulated by the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, and the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Conventional gasoline
In July 2023, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) published Director General Oil and Gas Decision No. 252.K/HK.02/DJM/2023 Standard and Quality Specification for RON 95 Gasoline with 5% Bioethanol (E5). This specification sets a maximum sulfur limit of 300 mg/kg and ethanol at 5% v/v. The maximum sulfur limit was then reduced to 50 mg/kg on January 1
