Methanol blends
Methanol blends are generally defined as gasoline containing more than 3% v/v methanol.
There are no specifications for methanol blends in Pakistan. Moreover, methanol is categorized as a regulated good with tight controls. Thus, no methanol is blended into domestically produced gasoline.
However, imported gasoline, which enables vehicles to meet Euro 5 exhaust emission standards, can contain up to 3% v/v of methanol. Therefore, depending on the source of imports, gasoline sold at retail stations may contain methanol up to 3% v/v.
