Recent developments

In December 2022, the Japanese government published the 2023 tax reform. One of the decisions related to vehicles is to continue the current eco-tax incentives until the end of 2023. In 2024, these incentives will be revised and extended until April 30, 2026.

In October 2022, the government announced that it would include a maximum limit for particle number (PN) emissions from vehicles per km traveled. This limit will mainly be implemented for light-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5 tonnes.
