Lubricity
The lubricity property of diesel describes the ability of the fuel to minimize the friction between surfaces in the fuel injection pump components.
In general, diesel has good lubricity characteristics. The higher the sulfur content in diesel, the better the lubricity will be.
Tanzanian diesel specifications set a maximum limit of 450 µm on lubricity. The SGS WWFS average results on diesel samples taken in 2010-2018 showed they are below the regulatory limit, except in 2011. However, some samples have a higher lubricity than the regulatory limit in several years of the study period. The figure below shows the average lubricity of diesel samples in 2010-2018.
