Recent developments

•From January 1, 2023, the Law No 2022-1726 of December 30, 2022, amended the Custom with new increased targets for the incorporation of biofuels in both diesel and gasoline. For diesel, the biofuel target increased from 8.4% in 2022 to 8.6% share by energy content in 2023. Advanced biofuels target for 2023 was also increased 2023.

•Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) blending is noted, but biodiesel is still the most popular alternative to diesel

•Used cooking oil and animal fat based biodiesel and HVO contributions towards the renewable energy share target are limited by the national regulations
