Retail price

The retail price of higher research octane number (RON) gasoline (per liter) compared to lower RON in Egypt, is demonstrated in the graph below. Higher quality fuels are more expensive. Domestic gasoline prices have been increasing progressively, with RON 80 gasoline grade now nearly ten times higher than it was in 2004. This is the result of periodic increases instigated by the government and devaluation of the Egyptian pound (LE) over recent years. Comparatively, over the same period, prices in U.S. dollar (USD ) have not changed significantly.
