Diesel exhaust fluid

While there is no mandate to use diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), the implementation of Bharat Stage VI emission standards from April 1, 2020 will requires heavy-duty vehicles to use DEF.

In April 2019, Indian Oil Corporation Limited published a tender notice, seeking to purchase DEF conform with ISO 22241 standards, for 2019-20 period.

As of August 3, 2023, there are 20 DEF producers in India.
