Quality specifications
Most quality regulations, including those for fuel and exhaust emissions across the member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)), are set by the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO).
GSO fuel specifications mostly reccommend the lowest quality of fuel that can be sold in the GCC, and member countries use the standards voluntarily. However, member countries are allowed to set and implement more stringent fuel specifications than those of the GSO.
In the UAE, gasoline quality standards are set and published by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.
