Regulations
Regulations on fuels and vehicle emissions in member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) are set by the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) in consultation with member countries’ standardization organizations and industry stakeholders. However, member countries are allowed to set more stringent regulations than those of the GSO.
In Saudi Arabia, pursuant to Royal Order No. 2448, dated 14/01/1442H (corresponding to September 2, 2020), the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources acts as the primary regulator for petrochemical operations in the country in place of the Ministry of Energy.
