Methanol and other alcohol
Australia’s gasoline specification, the Fuel Quality Standards (Petrol) Determination 2019, does not set any limit for methanol in gasoline. However, it sets a maximum tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) limit of 0.5% v/v.
SGS Worldwide Fuel Survey results on gasoline samples in 2011-2022 showed no methanol or TBA were detected.
