Methanol
Under the current gasoline specification, QCVN 1:2022/BKHCN, methanol should not be detected in gasoline. In other words, methanol must not be added.
The SGS Worldwide Fuels Survey (WWFS) results from gasoline samples taken from 2013-2023 showed that most samples did not contain methanol, except for a few found in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. The highest methanol content found in those years was 0.05% v/v. This is trace level and can’t be considered addition of methanol. The figure below shows the average methanol content found in gasoline samples from 2013-2023.
