Recent developments
On September 8, 2023, a new automotive biodiesel fuel specification, KS 2227:2023, was published, replacing the old specification. The key changes in the new specification include a revision to the cold filter plugging point (CFPP) requirement and to the test methods of several parameters. Whilst this standard is applicable for use in diesel engine vehicles designed or subsequently adapted to run on 100% biodiesel (also referred to as fatty acid methyl esters or FAME), there is currently no use of biodiesel in Kenya.
