Refining
The Khartoum Refinery Company (KRC) is a joint venture company between the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation (SPC) and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) with shares of 90% for SPC and 10% for CNPC, respectively. The refinery started production on May 16, 2000, with a total capacity of 95,000 barrels per day.
There is a smaller refinery, the Obeid refinery, with production capacity of 15,000 barrels per day. It doesn´t produce gasoline, however. It produces diesel, kerosene, naphtha and fuel oil.
Sudan is also in the process of building a gas-to-liquid plant to utilize flared gas to produce liquid fuels.
