Subsidies
In October 2020, the government announced a gradual lifting of fuel subsidies as part of economic reforms agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In June 2021, Sudan announced the full scrappage of fuel subsidies for gasoline and diesel prices, according to a statement from the finance ministry. New prices calculated in line with import costs, as well as transportation, taxes, and profit margins were given.
Fuel subsidies used to cost USD 1 billion a year in Sudan.
