Ethanol blends
The European Communities Act, 1972 (Environmental Specifications for petrol, diesel fuels and gas oils for use by Non-Road Mobile Machinery, including Inland Waterway Vessels, Agricultural and Forestry Tractors, and Recreational Craft) Regulations 2011 allows the sale of gasoline grade E10, where the maximum allowed ethanol content is 10% v/v and it complies with national standard I.S. EN 228:2017 for automotive fuels - unleaded petrol. Biodiesel must also comply with I.S. EN 15376:2014 for ethanol as a blending component of petrol.
Ireland also implements standard I.S. EN 15293:2018 for automotive ethanol (E85).
