Ethanol blends
Ethanol blends are defined as gasoline with an ethanol content of more than 10% v/v.
At present, neither Japan’s government nor the industry set any specifications for gasoline with an ethanol content of more than 10% v/v.
Gasoline specification JIS K 2202:2012 sets a maximum limit of 3% v/v of ethanol in gasoline, and a specification for E10 (gasoline containing up to 10% v/v of ethanol) which sets a maximum ethanol limit of 10% v/v. More details on JIS K 2202:2012 is available in the SGS INSPIRE fuel specifications database.
