Feedstocks
In the U.S., fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) production relies primarily on feedstocks such as vegetable oils and recycled cooking oils, chosen for their availability and biodiesel compatibility. However, competition for these feedstocks with the renewable diesel industry, which also produces hydroprocessed vegetable oil (HVO), has tightened supply and driven up prices, posing challenges for FAME producers.
