Hydrocarbons
In current Kenyan specifications, the benzene regulatory limit is 1% v/v, while the aromatics regulatory limit is 42% v/v. Since these limits were implemented in 2018, they can not be compared to the SGS WWFS results since these had been reported up until 2018. The former specifications regulated benzene up to 3% v/v, but did not regulate aromatics. Olefins are not regulated in Kenya.
According to the SGS WWFS values, aromatics should be in line with 2019 figures and olefins have average values compared to international standards. Benzene content in gasoline has been decreasing, and in 2018 almost achieved 1% v/v, the current regulatory limit.
