Imports and exports
Pakistan is a net importer of crude and refined petroleum products. In fiscal year (FY) 2022-23, the country imported 8.2 million tonnes of refined petroleum products, a decline from 13.2 million tonnes in FY 2021-22. Of this, 3.9 million tonnes were gasoline. No exports of refined petroleum products were recorded, primarily because the country’s production is insufficient and of a low quality.
The figure below shows imports of refined petroleum products from FY 2008-09 to FY 2022-23.
