As of March 2024, the Pakistani government applies a Pakistani Rupee (PKR) 80 (USD 0.267) per liter of fuel tax and a PKR 60 (USD 0.22) per liter of petroleum levy on high-speed diesel.
In June 2024, the Ministry of Finance proposed an increase in the petroleum levy in Pakistan’s Federal Budget 2024-2025: PKR 20 (USD 0.072) per liter for gasoline, from PKR 60 (USD 0.22) to PKR 80 (USD 0.267) per liter, and PKR 25 (USD 0.090) per liter for light-diesel oil, from PKR 50 (USD 0.179) to PKR 75 (USD 0.269) per liter, while the petroleum levy for diesel remains.
