There are continuous fuel adulteration incidents in Kenya. From July to December 2023, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) found 44 fuel stations to be non-compliant in terms of providing quality, as well as in the transportation and storage of fuel. The Authority conducted a total of 14,552 sample tests at 3,150 fuel stations across the country. From the tests, 98.6% of the sites were found to be compliant. For the 44 fuel stations with non-compliance, appropriate penalties were imposed as per the relevant legislation.
