Supply and demand
Data from the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) showed that Iraq produced 105,700 barrels/day (38.58 million barrels) of diesel in 2020, a 14% decline from 122,900 barrels/day (44.86 million barrels) in 2019.
However, diesel consumption has always been higher than production. In 2020, diesel consumption was 161,000 barrels/day (58.77 million barrels), an increase of 6% from 151,900 barrels/day (55.44 million barrels) in 2019. The figure below shows diesel production and consumption in Iraq from 2016 to 2020.
