Recent developments

In September 2021, the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran announced that it would introduce Euro 5 emission standards for light-duty vehicles, although no timeline was announced. This new directive is also expected to set a timeline for switching to Euro 5-enabling gasoline quality. However, a complete nationwide switch to Euro 5-enabling gasoline quality will depend on the decision of the Ministry of Oil which controls the majority of state refineries.
