Projection
The quality of gasoline sold in Iran is highly influenced by the capabilities of domestic refineries. The government has been upgrading refineries to be able to produce gasoline with higher quality, meeting Euro 4- and Euro 5-enabling gasoline quality levels.
At present, ultra-low sulfur gasoline is mainly distributed in major cities, including Tehran and Isfahan. The government planned to expand the availability of such gasoline to cover the whole country in 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021, which delayed some of the refinery upgrading projects, SGS INSPIRE believes that the national switch to ultra-low sulfur gasoline will be delayed from 2020 to 2022-2023.
