Methanol

Pakistan’s gasoline specification, PS:1430-2011, does not regulate methanol content in gasoline. However, imported gasoline specifications set a maximum of 3% v/v methanol which can be added.

The SGS Worldwide Fuel Survey (WWFS) results from gasoline samples taken between 2010 and 2024 showed that some methanol was detected in samples from 2023 and 2024, at 0.5% v/v and 0.6% v/v respectively. The figure below shosw the average ethanol and methanol content in gasoline samples in 2010-2024.
