Exports and imports

Most biodiesel in South Korea is consumed domestically, with some excess production exported. About 53% of exports are destined for European countries. In 2020, 53% of biodiesel exports were destined for the Netherlands, and 44% for the U.S.

However, biodiesel exports are expected to decline due to sustainability requirements, limiting feedstock choices. In 2023, more than 184,000 tonnes of biodiesel were exported, with almost 25,000 tonnes imported. The figure below shows biodiesel exports and imports from 2018-2023.
