Sustainable aviation fuel market

According to the European Commission, the present sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production represents less than 0.05% of European Union jet fuel production. The price remains at least 100%-200% higher than kerosene for the most readily available technologies (at pre-COVID-19 oil prices). Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) is the most developed and used SAF production pathway so far. The following sections describe alternative fuel production in Europe.
