Alternative gasoline mandates
As of November 2023, Singapore’s government does not mandate any use of alternative fuels to replace gasoline.
In 2001, it promoted the use of compressed natural gas (CNG), mainly in taxis and other commercial vehicles, through the Green Vehicle Rebate scheme. The scheme was mainly applicable to vehicles, with no specific details regarding fuel. However, the use of CNG as an automotive fuel declined significantly due to a lack of refueling infrastructure and cost ineffectiveness following the revocation of the Green Vehicle Rebate Scheme in 2013.
