Ethanol

The Iraqi government does not mandate any addition of ethanol in its gasoline. However, gasoline specification IQS 455/2016 does set a maximum limit for ethanol at 10% v/v, primarily to allow imports of gasoline, including those with ethanol content.

Prior to 2020, gasoline samples tested by the SGS Worldwide Fuel Survey contained ethanol. However, gasoline samples taken in 2020 and 2021 did not. The figure below shows the average ethanol content in gasoline samples taken in 2013 and 2017-2021.
