Retail price
The federal government of Iraq regulates the retail price of fuels, including gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel sold across the country, except in the Kurdistan region (KRI), as stipulated in the National Legislation Order 66/1999 issued by the Committee on Economic Affairs in 1999.
As of November 2020, diesel sold by state-run fuel stations across the country is set at IQD 400 (USD 0.273) per liter.
In KRI most fuel stations are private, and they are authorized to import and sell fuel. Thus, most fuel sold in the KRI is more expensive than in state-run fuel stations. As of August 2021, diesel in KRI has been sold at IQD 650-700 (USD 0.444-0.478) per liter.
