Initiatives driving SAF demand
In Europe, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) demand is largely driven by cargo companies and airline companies willing to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The following list indicates just a few of these initiatives:
    •In October 2019, U.S. based fuel producer Gevo and Nordic Airline SAS signed a fuel sales agreement. In 2021, the SAF purchase volume was increased to 5,000,000 gallons per year. Gevo expects to supply SAS with SAF at the beginning of 2024 from Gevo’s Net-Zero 2 Project
    •Early 2021, cargo companies Kuehne+Nagel for deliveries between Los Angeles to Amsterdam and a company Bolloré Logistics for deliveries between Paris Charles de Gaulle and New York John F. Kennedy airports joined the SAF program of Air France-KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP
