Projection

The quality of gasoline sold in Iraq is highly influenced by the capabilities of domestic refineries. Thus, SGS INSPIRE expects the government to tighten gasoline specifications in line with Euro 5 enabling quality once refinery upgrading projects are complete.

These upgrading projects are mainly being carried out to increase production capacity, reduce fuel oil production, increase the share of production allocated to gasoline and diesel, and improve the quality of gasoline and diesel to be in line with Euro 5 enabling gasoline quality. Some upgrading projects are expected to be commissioned in 2025. Thus, we expect that the availability of higher quality gasoline will be widened and will likely cover the whole country by 2030.
