CONAMA (National Council for the Environment)
Resolution No. 492
from December 20, 2018, establishes the Proconve L8
(air pollution control program for motor vehicles) emission standards for light-duty vehicles (LDVs), as of January 1, 2025, which aims to reduce emission of nitrogen oxides. The standard applies to new light passenger (PVs) and commercial vehicles (LCVs) with a maximum weight of not more than 3,856 kg and a maximum running weight of not more than 2,720 kg. The stringency of the L8 standards is scheduled to increase with time, and they will be fully phased in for light passenger vehicles by January 1, 2029, and for light commercial vehicles by January 1, 2031.
