Heavy-duty vehicles
Heavy-duty vehicles are defined as vehicles (including trucks and buses) with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 3.5 tonnes.
Japan’s vehicle emission standards set two limits for each parameter, typically denoted as the “mean” and “maximum” value. The “mean” values are set for a type approval limit and as a production average. The “maximum” values are set for individual limit in series production and as type approval limit if sales are less than 2,000 units per vehicle model year. The tables below show emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles in Japan.
