The Ministry of Petroleum and the Egyptian Standards Organization have been preparing the necessary fleet fuel efficiency and fuel quality standards, comparable to European Standards using Euro 3, Euro 4 and even Euro 5, according to the World Bank. Particular emphasis was placed on fuel efficiency in two and four stroke motorcycles, mini and microbuses, and heavy trucks. However, these new standards are not yet enforced. There are currently no plans from the government to apply new exhaust emission standards in Egypt.
