Actual quality

This section provides an overview of the gasoline octane number and its boosters used in the CIS countries. Considering that Russia has the largest gasoline market in the CIS, we can claim that MTBE is the most popular octane enhancer. However, there are still countries, such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan with high aromatics, olefins and benzene. There was the usage of NMA, however, much lower compared to the previous years. As more countries move to the tighter quality standards and the region’s refineries are upgraded, we expect a slow increase in MTBE and TAME demand to meet the increasing share of the grade RON 95.
