Aniline and derivatives
Aniline and its derivatives are used in several African countries in gasoline. The figure below shows their average concentrations in samples of summer 2019.
In Libya, N-Methylaniline was detected at concentrations several orders of magnitudes higher than in the other countries: it was detected in all five samples ranging from 34,275 to 47,465 mg/kg. N-Methylaniline was not detected in samples from previous years (2012, 2015 and 2016).
In all sampled countries, the sum of 2-/3-/4-Methylaniline had the highest concentration among the aniline derivatives. Its highest average concentration was found in Tunisia.
